Longest Word in English Language (Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis)


Pneumonoultramiscroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis with a 45-letter word and is the longest word ever to become visible in an English language dictionary. It is an inflammatory lung disease caused inhaling siliceous volcanic dust. A condition is usually called “silicosis”.
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis was invented in 1935 by Everette M. Smith, the President of National Puzzlers’ League and accomplish something as the longest word in the English language recognized at the opening session of the organization’s 103rd semi-annual meeting held at the Hotel New Yorker. The puzzlers explained that the forty-five-letter word is the name of a special form of silicosis caused by ultra-microscopic particles of silica volcanic dust.
